CORE 231: Regional, Social, & Ethnic Dialects of Great BritainStudents explore the dialects of the English Language within a historical and social context. While in Great Britain, students will visit 3 different regions, collecting samples of English, Scottish, and Welsh dialects and visiting important linguistic sites. |

IDIS 260: France: Power, Politics, and CastlesPower, Politics, and Castles brings you to France to explore castles and other monumental buildings as symbols of authority, defense, and influence. Students will examine the history, politics, and geographical context of castles and other monuments in Paris, the Loire Valley, Bordeaux, Carcassonne and Toulouse, gaining firsthand insights into architectural evolution and the political landscapes that shaped them. IDIS 231: Arts Collective ExperienceA culminating experience of the Arts Collective, this off-campus travel course will introduce students to and deepen engagement in the arts through a visit to Quebec, Canada. The course will be interdisciplinary in focus but may pair with another course in the cohort progression to complement its content. Students will travel during May term with faculty and staff guides, exploring the rich cultural heritage of this unique province and visiting sites focused on visual, performing, and folk arts. Travel costs will be paid for by Calvin Cohorts. Credits: 2 |

IDIS 237: Sustainability Cohort Experience* - USAA spring break trip for the Sustainability Fellows cohort. We will circumnavigate Lake Michigan, visiting urban and rural communities, and meeting with representatives from public and private sectors. We will discover how sustainability is approached within different scales and models, and we will analyze those approaches from an interdisciplinary perspective. PUBH 385C: Impact of Clean Water - KenyaRural communities must rely on localized systems for clean water, usually point-of-use filtration. Students in this course will address the lack of sustainable systems by helping to implement new filter systems on site and studying communities to quantify the impact of clean water on health. |
