The Center Art Gallery welcomes all visitors. We are an active space for classes, scholarship, events, and art appreciation as we celebrate our students and exhibiting artists.
Visiting Artist Series
The Center Art Gallery at ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ is thrilled to announce the creation of the Visiting Artist Series. Beginning in the 2025/26 academic year, the program is designed to spark dialogue, promote creativity, and provide insight into the life, work, and process of the professional artist.
Each Fall, the gallery will host a 12-week exhibition featuring one acclaimed artist. To complement and enhance this exhibition, the artist will be hosted for a week-long residency during the exhibition to engage with students and highlight their cross-disciplinary approach to creative practices and art making.

2026–2027 Exhibitions
Visiting Artist Jerome Tryon
August 27–November 7, 2026
Experience the working mind of the Center Art Gallery's second Visiting Artist, architect, fine artist, and Yale School of Architecture professor Jerome Tryon.
Tryon's practice explores the relationship between art and architecture, examining how memory shapes perception and architectural space. Through projects spanning drawings, architectural objects, and sculpted frames he invites viewers to explore his steel-built environment and the ways we experience it.
A graduate of the University of Oregon and the Yale School of Architecture, where he earned the prestigious William Wirt Winchester Fellowship, Tryon has received numerous honors, including fellowships from the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, the American Academy in Rome, the Sir John Soane's Museum Foundation, and more. His professional experience includes work with Olson Kundig, MICA, and Knight Architecture.
This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to engage with the creative process of an artist and architect whose work bridges disciplines. Join us for a full week of talks, workshops, and more during his residency at Calvin November 2-6, 2026.
Bolt & Vermeer: Masters Exhibitions
November 16, 2026–February 19, 2027
Celebrate with us! Two staff members in Calvin's Department of Visual Arts have received their Masters Degrees. In the culmination of many years of work and hours in the studio, Christine Vermeer and Lee Bolt will both be exhibiting the work done in their respective programs.
The Poem as a Graphic Art Exhibition
March 1–April 16, 2027
Visual Poetry—a genre that insists on the poem not just as a vessel for thought but as a visual and spatial art form in its own right.
This exhibition will challenge and expand the way you encounter poetry through its six visual poets and their unique take with the medium. Together, L.S. Klatt and the Center Art Gallery have sought out contemporary, eye-arresting pieces that explore and complicate the relationship between word and image.
Senior Show
April 26–May 8, 2027
Come celebrate the graduating BFA & BA artists at this year’s Senior Exhibition! Graphic Design, Studio Art, and Art Education grads will have featured work throughout the Center Art Gallery on view and available to purchase.
